What we have on offer

Workshop

Occupying the ground floor, fitted out with a range of woodworking, metal working equipment and tools with a variety of work surfaces for general create, repair and hobby activities that will appeal to a range of interest groups.
This space is managed by the Aboyne and District Men's Shed group who ensure safety and competency needs with the facilities available to other user groups at scheduled times. There is a disabled toilet and wash room and a small social area set aside for a cuppa and chat.

Social Area

The largest upper floor space having a section adjacent to the kitchen set up with flexible table and seating space suitable for a range of uses. The main area being set aside as the main social area with casual seating. This social space has two large windows facing south and east and will be suitable for social relaxation and small group meetings. The ground floor can be accessed via an internal stair case.

Kitchen

A room adjacent to the social area with window to the north. It is equipped with 2 hobs and extractors, 2 ovens, a fridge, triple sinks and an under counter dishwasher, all of domestic type. Designed primarily for participative training purposes and simple catering, a large preparation island is visible from a roller shuttered hatch/viewing point opening into the social area. A hot water urn will be available for hot beverage making.

Office

The office which has a north facing window acts as the administration hub fitted out with a computer, printer, desks and storage and will enable tuition of basic IT skills.

Arts & Craft Space

A space with two large windows facing south segregated from the Social area and with a separate general storage area providing limited space for equipment to be left on site and a sink for room users. Some equipment will be available like tables and chairs. For additional hire, there is an audio trolley, roaming mikes, portable speakers and compatible projector with screen.

Other Facilities

The building is installed with a Wi-Fi router providing full coverage for those wishing to stay connected and in touch. Monitored CCTV and Intruder alarm systems providing safety and security and a remote monitored Fire Alarm system compliant with regulations. Toilets include disabled access and baby changing facilities. The building is fitted out with a sound loop for those who are hearing impaired. All spaces are provided with ceiling mounted air source heating/cooling units that maintain a comfortable temperature in all seasons.
